VCE Economics: RBA New Explainers & Upcoming Monetary Policy Webinars
The RBA has developed two new explainers that explore the Reserve Bank’s role:
- The RBA’s dual mandate for monetary policy price stability and full employment and how these objectives are connected and achieved.
- Full employment, including why it matters, how it’s measured, and how monetary policy supports it. This is also accompanied by a classroom-ready worksheet and teacher guide, available via the RBA learning activities.
The RBA would love to hear any feedback teachers may have on these resources.
Upcoming Monetary Policy Webinars
The RBA is hosting an introductory webinar on monetary policy, designed to support Year 11 and 12 students across all Australian states.
The RBA economists will outline the objectives of monetary policy and explain how changes in interest rates affect the economy. Students will take part in a short ‘You make the decision’ activity and hear a discussion of the May 2026 monetary policy decision. The webinar will conclude with a live Q&A.
There are two session options for teachers to choose from:
- Friday, 5 June 2026 | 11:00 am – 12:00 pm (AEST)
- Tuesday, 9 June 2026 | 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (AEST)

The university research teams are also interested in hearing from you if you think there are ways in which housing concepts could be further incorporated into the Humanities curriculum or would like to share with us resources that you need.
